Apples

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Now there is one more reason to eat an apple a day. A recent research revealed that an apple carries about 100 million bacteria (most of it in the seeds and core). You will only get 10 million if you do not eat the core and seeds. That is still a lot of good bacteria.

These friendly bacteria are important in maintaining a healthy gut.

This study also concludes that fresh organic apples have a more diverse, more even and distinct bacterial community, compared to conventional ones. In any case eating an apple is good for you.

The most important rule to follow is your overall diet. Apples and other fruit and vegetables should be included. Apple is also a mouth freshener (see recipe for my last meal).

How best to eat an apple

  • 🙂 Whole fruit | All nutrients available

  • 🙁 Apple Juice | Processing kills good bacteria

  • 🙁 Cooked apples | Kills off all friendly bacteria

Louisaz says develop a good habit, include apples in your diet.
