ANY Solution ? YES CREATE MORE SPACE
Through Exercise, Nutrition and Mental Stimulation
1. Exercise stimulates the growth of new brain cells and helps prevent age related decline
Benefits
Neurogenesis – generates new brain cells (neurons) to transmit information
Neuroplasticity – improves how existing brain cells work
Neurochemistry – releases neurotransmitters (messengers) that improves brain function
Reduces depression and stress which destroy brain cells
Maintains youthful looks (added value of self esteem)
Strengthens immune system (definitely useful in these covid times)
2. Nutrition – all foods to be eaten in moderation
Blueberries - have both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Low level of Red wine consumption has links to improved brain function.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ginseng is believed to be effective in memory improvement

Eggs - Rich in B vitamins and a nutrient called choline. Choline is associated with promoting brain function

Fatty Fish - Rich source of omega 3 fatty acids which provides neuroprotection in ageing

Fruits - Good source of vitamins and antioxidants (protects from free radical damage that kills healthy cells)

Vegetables - Good source of protective minerals and antioxidants

Nuts - strengthen brain wave function.

Tea and Coffee - Contains caffeine that stimulates the nervous system.

3. Mental stimulation
Play Mahjong

Solve Crossword puzzles

Acquire a new hobby or new skill to stimulate brain cells
Increase use of non dominant hand. Trigger part of brain that may not be too active

Stress management and adequate sleep also contribute to brain fitness
The brain is a highly complex organ. There are around 86 billion neurons in the human brain, all of which are active and in use
Everyone wants to believe that human brain continues to produce new cells throughout life
It is a seductive thought
Studies on how the brain works is only tip of iceberg
While waiting for more new information to be published the sensible thing to do is to work on existing advice to delay brain ageing
