As lemon grass is tropical there is not much interest from western scientists
However a group of dentists from India showed that use of lemongrass has a significant reduction in gum infection and formation of plaque
Gingivitis or infections of gums and teeth have tormented humans for a very long time
It gets worse as one ages because of receding gums
Since early times herbal remedies have been used to relief one of the most distressing miseries
Try this home remedy for healthy gums
Cut a stalk of lemon grass to 2 cm pieces
Put 4 pieces in a porcelain mug
Pour boiling water to fill ½ mug
Let it steep for 1-2 hours and rinse mouth before bedtime
You may also bite into the lemon grass and massage the gums as well
Do not swallow the fibrous lemon grass
Continue to use commercial mouth rinse at other times of the day
This helps to keep your oral health in good condition
For further optimal gum health
🙂 Visit your dentist at least twice a year for a check up
🙂 Floss after brushing
🙂 Rinse mouth thoroughly after food
🙂 Alert your dentist if you are on an osteoporotic medication
🙁 Poor oral health is associated with an increased risk of developing heart disease
Louisaz says good oral hygiene gives you a healthy smile!
